Construction managers and those in the building trade may be able to take advantage of a new thermal imaging mobile phone that is about to hit the UK market.
The Cat S60 has recently become available for pre-order in the UK and features an integrated FLIR thermal imaging camera that can see in the dark and detect heat sources. It is priced at £529.
According ot the company, the technology works up to 100 feet away and could potentially be used by construction managers or building surveyors to check for bad insulation and faulty wiring in a building.
Although there are other handheld thermal devices available, the reason the Cat S60 is so helpful is because it shows temperatures in real time.
The phone can even take a photo or video of the thermal camera, letting the user retroactively examine a specific area.
The FLIR app also allows crosshairs to be placed on the screen to measure the specific temperature of different areas in the same photo or video.
Being made by Cat, the phone is also durable and is drop-proof up to six feet and can be used in water up to 5m deep.
