Sir Robert McAlpine will host a supplier engagement day in Somerset to link local businesses with Tata Group’s global battery business Agratas.

The contractor is building a multi-billion-pound cell manufacturing facility for Agratas near Bridgwater.

Named Building One, the facility and ancillary development will comprise 244,710 sq m gross external area. That’s more than 35% larger than Wembley Stadium, which covers approximately 180,000 sq m GEA.

The event, scheduled for the morning of 8 October, will offer local SMEs a chance to connect directly with the Agratas team and hear how development is progressing.

It will also show how Sir Robert McAlpine and Agratas intend to collaborate with companies in the area to boost local supply chains and the wider economy.

Businesses that have the necessary core skills and competencies to deliver the following services are being encouraged to attend:

  • Catering
  • Offsite consolidation centre
  • Ancillary/secondary steelwork metalwork
  • Mastic
  • Office cleaning
  • Temporary electrics (site set up only)
  • Builders clean
  • Signage
  • Soft landscaping/planting

Craig Allen, managing director (industrial) at Sir Robert McAlpine, said: “As work on the Somerset site ramps up, we’re excited to connect with local partners. This is one of the largest projects of its kind in the UK, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for those in the region to make their mark.”
