The Royal Mile hotel in Edinburgh
Family-owned McAleer & Rushe dominated this year’s CMYA, picking up four awards across various categories last night.
On what was an historic night for CMYA, the Northern Irish firm won gold and silver medals in the Leisure & Retail category as well as gold in the Offices category and also took the top overall prize of Construction Manager of the Year 2017.

Michael Yohanis MCIOB won the gold medal for his work on the construction of the £20m Royal Mile hotel in Edinburgh while Paddy Connolly MCIOB won the silver medal for his work on the £25m Holiday Inn in Manchester.
Margaret Conway won both the Offices category and overall CMYA award for her work on Clarendon House in Belfast.
Other category winners on the evening included Ger Hayes MCIOB in the Residential Developments category for his work on the £92m Emerald Gardens in London, Gerry Lavelle MCIOB in Residential for the £23m Mercers Walk in Covent Garden.

Morgan Sindall also had a good evening with James Kidgell MCIOB winning gold in the Primary Schools category and Karen Fairhurst MCIOB winning in Secondary Schools.
The Higher Education gold was won by Oliver Robinson MCIOB from Interserve for his work on the £9.5m Biomedical and Natural Sciences building at the University of York.
Andy Beale from Willmott Dixon won gold in the Refurbishment & Fitout section for his Bolton Albert Halls phase 2 project, while John Neill MCIOB from Stepnell won gold in Public, Infrastructure and Healthcare for his work on the £10m National Memorial Arbetroprum, Alrewas, Staffordshire.
