Lord Greenhalgh, minister of state for building safety and fire, and Dame Judith Hackitt, author of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety, are both set to speak at the Chartered Institute of Building’s (CIOB) first Safer Buildings UK conference.
Peter Baker, chief inspector of buildings, is also a confirmed speaker at the event.
The conference, which takes place on 26 May in London from 9.00am to 5.30pm, will raise awareness of the culture change that is needed to ensure the buildings we create and manage are safe for those who occupy them.
Delegates will hear from government ministers and industry experts on the progress being made on the Building Safety Bill as well as the ongoing work to raise levels of competency across the industry and increase resident engagement.
The conference will bring together perspectives on the new regulatory system that will govern the design, construction and occupation of higher-risk buildings, described as the biggest change in building safety in a generation.
To register for the conference and for more information please visit the events section of the CIOB website.
