The Sir Henry Royce Institute will be highlighted at the careers event
Laing O’Rourke is to host a careers event in Manchester aimed at attracting new talent into the construction industry.
Organised in conjunction with Manchester City Council, Manchester Airport Group and the University of Manchester, it will take place on 8 February at Wythenshawe Forum.
The “Early Talent” event aims to give people “interested in the industry the chance to find out about opportunities within construction and engineering and highlight how projects bring socio-economic benefits”, the company said.
Laing O’Rourke will send a team including apprentices, experienced engineers, project managers and members of its supply chain.
Manchester Airport is a key project in the North West
The event will focus on the sharing of knowledge and insight into the construction industry, and the team will be available to give practical advice on how to go about landing an apprenticeship or placement.

Laing O’Rourke will highlight career opportunities ranging from traditional trades such as carpentry to digital engineering roles, across a number of projects in the North West including:
- Manchester Airport Transformation Programme
- The MIF Factory
- The Sir Henry Royce Institute
- Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD)
- Metrolink – Trafford Park Line
