A labourer who killed a site foreman on the London construction site they were working at together has been sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 22 years.
Elton Sefa (pictured above), 24, of no fixed address, was found guilty of murdering 47-year-old John Woodward in 2018 at the conclusion of a trial at the Old Bailey on 29 June.
The court heard how Woodward was employed as a site foreman by a construction firm which was working on a building in Hatton Garden, EC1. Sefa was a labourer who had worked with Woodward on a number of sites for around seven months prior to the murder. He had used the false name ‘Frankie’ and false personal details to get the job.
Sefa assaulted Woodward with a metal scaffolding pole on 17 April 2018, striking him a number of times on the head. He then fled the building site, leaving Woodward lying injured on the deserted fourth floor area.
Sefa then fled to his native Albania but was extradited back to the UK in January 2020 ahead of his trial.
