Construction equipment giant JCB has made a foray into the building materials market with the launch of a fire retardant paint for exterior surfaces.
“With the unfortunate events that have happened recently concerning fires in buildings, fire safety and meeting building regulations is under particular scrutiny,” a spokesman said. “JCB Paint is a fire suppression product which will resist the spread of flame over surfaces and if ignited, will slow the rate of heat release and flame growth.”
JCB said the paint can be used on “almost any” exterior surface, including wood, masonry, terracotta, ceramic, plastic and metal, and is offered in 12 colours.
The firm added that the paint has a water-based formula with high opacity and is mould, water and stain resistant, as well as having fire retardant properties.
“We have created an innovative, high performing, strong product which demonstrates quality, safety and durability benefits,” said Chris Honer, CEO of JCB Paint.
He described the product as “a one paint solution” to cover all exterior painting requirements.
