A consortium of social housing groups has launched a fire safety retrofit programme across the UK, as the sector continues to wrestle with repercussions from the Grenfell tragedy.
Re:allies, whose members include Procure Plus, Efficiency North and Central Housing Investment Consortium, is procuring firms to deliver £163m-worth of fire risk assessments, fire precaution work, fire prevention work and fire mitigation work.
The work will predominantly be in social housing but may also be carried out in other public buildings, including schools and offices.
Re:allies has divided the work into four frameworks, each lasting four years, and split into regional lots covering the North, Midlands, Wales and the South.
The highest value framework is for the design, supply installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems, where the spend is £105m. A maximum of 15 contractors will be chosen per lot.
The other construction frameworks are for the design, supply, installation and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems, and for fire precaution work. Both these frameworks will appoint up to 15 contractors per regional lot.
For the fire risk assessment work, a maximum of 10 consultants will be picked for each lot.
The procurement documents are available on the client’s procurement portal.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 24 November 2017.
