The Royal Borough of Greenwich is planning to procure an offsite manufacturing provider to deliver its council house building programme.
The total value of the contract is £50m over 10 years.
The south London local authority said the successful bidder will be capable of providing a turnkey service, including design, manufacture, installation and all other associated construction works and services.
As well as this “manufacturer-led provider”, which will act as principal designer and principal contractor, the borough said it will make a separate appointment for the role of framework managing consultant, acting in the joint role of employer’s agent and cost consultant.
Greenwich has launched a “soft market test” to identify suitable providers for its local authority new build (LANB) programme, which is designed to gather feedback on best practice, procurement strategies, forms of contract, pricing and overall management of the programme, plus market capacity and capability.
“The outputs of the feedback we obtain will be used to inform the authority on the best delivery model and ultimately, the most appropriate procurement strategy,” the council said.
