The new Wimbledon football stadium has been boosted by a 50:50 joint venture agreement between Galliard Homes and Catalyst housing association to develop 604 new homes and 18,000 sq ft of commercial space on the stadium site.
The development, which secured planning approval in December 2017, includes both private residential and shared ownership apartments, as well as the new £25m 11,000-seat stadium for AFC Wimbledon on Plough Lane.
The JV will be a partnership between Galliard Homes and a subsidiary of Catalyst. Together, they will manage the construction of the residential and public realm.
The JV also intends to provide 177 affordable homes which is more than 30% of the entire development, surpassing the original 10% statutory amount set by Merton Council.
The main contractor on the stadium redevelopment is Andrew Scott.
Demolition of the main stadium is expected to begin shortly and construction expected to start around May.
Completion of the stadium is scheduled for spring 2019, ready for the 2019/20 season.
The development will include 177 affordable homes
