Demolition work at London Euston station is set to restart next week, after activity was paused as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Network Rail is to allow enabling works at the site, which involve dismantling the station’s west ramp and demolishing a canopy from platforms 17 and 18 to recommence.
However, the situation on most other HS2 sites remains unchanged with work continuing to be very limited.
HS2 said its contractors were making decisions on a case-by-base basis about what work can continue in line with the government’s advice.
A spokesperson said: “To ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce and the communities in which we are working, only construction sites that can maintain Government guidelines and are critical to the delivery of HS2 will remain operational.
“As a result, a number of our sites have paused or are pausing construction works, although some sites may remobilise if our contractors are confident they can operate in line with PHE and industry guidance. Those sites still working are doing so because they are confident they are operating within PHE guidelines, and will be monitored and remain under constant review.”
