  1. Why are under-qualified workers there in the first place. There should be no under-qualified workers on site, that rule is not new it has been in place for a long time

  2. Unfortunately the 5 week courses have been understood in my opinion. The kitchen fitters and plumbers etc that already carried out minor electrical works need the extra tuition to give them competence in carrying out works eg change a switch cover add 1 socket . Move a light etc. But the 5WW is now seen as a route to being classed as a competent electrician. ( not just domestic as ment to be) like every system it is open to misinterpretation and manipulation and sadly this has happened leading to thousands of 5WW sparks now claiming to be electricians. The NICEIC,NAPIT etc have to look at this as it is them that are saying these guys are competent domestic installers they need to be clear install what ? I certainly wouldn’t want a 5WW to design and rewire my house or even change a board but these things are now common practice for Domestic installers
