The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has begun the process to appoint a new co-chair, as incumbent Andy Mitchell steps down.
Mitchell, who has helped to lead construction through the covid-19 pandemic, took up the role in 2018. He is also chief executive of the London super sewer construction project, Tideway.
Mitchell said he was stepping away to spend more time on the Tideway project.

The CLC, which is also co-chaired by construction minister Lee Rowley, is now recruiting for Mitchell’s successor.
The CLC said the main function of the co-chair is to provide it with leadership and strategic direction, and that the candidate would have to have an “excellent understanding of the industry and its challenges”, as well as being able to represent construction as a whole, from large businesses to SMEs and from design to FM.
The CLC said the new co-chair would also need to be able to represent construction on the issue of building safety and be a champion for change, inclusion and diversity, as well as understanding future trends such as sustainability and innovation.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 31 March and the new co-chair is expected to be appointed by the end of April.
The January/February 2026 issue of Construction Management magazine is now available to read in digital format.
