Whitefriars Housing Association is to trial the use of volumetric modular construction homes in a joint project with Coventry City Council.
A city council is to trial the use of volumetric modular construction to tackle a local shortage in housing.
Totally Modular will manufacture homes at its Cradley Heath factory for Whitefriars Housing Association and Coventry City Council.
The homes will be transported to the Littlethorpe site in the Willenhall district of the city.
The pilot aims to prove that the finished homes can offer a fast and efficient way to address the city’s housing needs. If successful, more modular homes could be built at various locations in and around Coventry.
The pilot project is based on the construction of two steel-framed Totally Modular homes, one two-bedroomed, and the other with three bedrooms. Work on the homes is set to begin shortly.
