The Art of Building finalists for 2016 have been revealed with photographs from Egypt, Ukraine, Paraguay and the UK among the shortlist.
The public can now vote for their favourite of the 15 shots online, with the photograph that gains the most votes earning that finalist the coveted title of Art of Building Photographer of the Year and a cash prize of £3,500.
The shortlist of final images has been drawn up by a judging panel which includes professional photographers, editors and communicators.
Among the finalists are New York City’s iconic Flatiron building, taken during the coastal storm Jonas in January, with the building emerging from the blizzard like the bow of a giant ship ploughing through the wind and the snow.
There are also examples of the interaction between nature and architecture in the entry People’s Friendship Arch, which combines a 30m titanium arch and a tree in Kiev, Ukraine.
Elsewhere in the shortlist is a windfarm turned into a dandelion through multiple exposures and a photo that describes how modern architecture can be a conduit for people to express their faith.
Voting takes place from 15 December and closes on 23 January 2017. The winner will be announced on 7 February 2017.
