In the aftermath of the EU referendum, the CIOB has assured members that the standing of their qualifications remains unchanged.
CIOB chief executive Chris Blythe said that although the CIOB was primarily UK-based, membership was and will continue to be recognised internationally as a sign of high standards and professionalism and in this regard, the qualifications remained unchanged.
He explained: “During the EU debate, CIOB did not take a position on the question of whether the UK should or should not remain a member of the EU.
Membership was and will continue to be recognised internationally as a sign of high standards and professionalism and in this regard, the qualifications remained unchanged.
After all, the CIOB is professional body, incorporated by Royal Charter, with a public service mandate and global membership, which aims to advance the science and practice of construction management. “As we have with other key issues in the past, the CIOB will be discussing the implications of EU withdrawal on the construction industry and built environment with policy makers.
This includes understanding the views of our members as well as taking into account the public interest as part of our Royal Charter objectives. We will also continue to commit to working with other professional bodies to ensure a consistent cross-profession voice is presented.” Looking ahead the CIOB states that it will be assessing the impacts of withdrawal from the EU and will provide further advice to members in due course.
