This summer CIOB and CIOB Novus members from Manchester, Liverpool and Cumbria climbed Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, in aid of the Embassy bus charity.
The event was organised by the Manchester and Liverpool Novus Group, after its success climbing Snowdon the previous year.
The group was formed of 15 people at various stages of their careers – from students and professionals working towards CIOB membership to experienced members of the industry and University of Salford lecturers.
Nicola Hodson, standards advisor with Wates Group, said it was a great networking opportunity.
“The event was very relaxed with lots of breaks to enjoy the scenery and really get to know each other. We all summited together just before midday and was glad this year of a view of the beautiful Lake District.”
To date, the group has raised almost £400 for Embassy, a Manchester-based charity which converted a tour bus into a homeless shelter, providing a safe place to stay while residents find employment and housing.
Manchester Novus plans to do some volunteering work with the charity before the end of the year, with the aim of helping some of the residents gain work experience and employment.
