CHAS managing director Ian McKinnon outlines how adoption of the Common Assessment Standard has gathered pace since its rollout in 2019. With many large contractors now specifying the scheme, now is the time for those that haven’t yet taken the assessment to embrace it.
What is the Common Assessment Standard?

Developed by Build UK, Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), and other accreditation bodies and industry experts, the Common Assessment Standard is an accreditation programme that is recognised industry-wide. It replaces multiple assessment schemes with one comprehensive industry-agreed questionnaire based on existing prequalification questionnaires, including PAS 91.

CHAS is the leading provider of risk prevention, compliance and supply chain management services for clients and contractors. Our aims are to:

  • standardise and simplify health and safety assessment for contractors
  • support organisations in efficiently managing their supply chains
  • deliver a full suite of supply chain management tools.
