  1. He is absolutely correct ! One has to have a moral stance. Whilst, I would like to leave the EU, I am reluctant to, because the Trade Unions are not strong enough and do not have enough members. After all, the “good” social change came via Trade Unions and the successive Labour Governments. I have voted for all sorts of parties over the years, but I must admit whilst I didn’t like a lot of Labour’s policies on the Building/Property industry, so I voted Tory, only to be kicked in the goolies with their introduction of lower claimable tax rates,, Stamp Duty etc. With no social changes for the benefit of the poorest people in society. So I am afraid, Corporate bodies, who are consider the Tories as their party (generally) are only interested in profit at the expense of everyone else. All they will ever come up with is “we are complying with all the regulations that the country requires ” So can wash their hands of the problem.I still find it hard to beleive that we are arguing over how much the “Living Wage” should be. When you get Cameron and other MPs, TV pundits saying that the economy will be damaged if we raise the rate per hour. This is coming form people who are be paid (I won’t say earning) £100,000 to Millions of pounds a year ! I can’t see why MP’s get paid so much, especially when there is no requirement for a qualification. When take it down to basics and MP is just like a Trade Union Shop Steward, a representative, the only difference, the MP gets paid a lot more than the people he/she is representing. On a final note, I wonder how much tax Balfour are paying in this country ?

  2. At least an institute of professionals is doing something… Bravo CIOB!!… Why are other institutes silent on this subject??? I thought that architects, engineers and other chartered professionals had a social reasonability? Maybe not when it comes to profit…
