Global consultancy Aecom is gearing up to hold its first UK Hackathon next week, with the aim of finding new tech talent and developing innovative tech solutions in the construction industry.
CityHack18 will take place on 26-28 January at Aecom’s London Aldgate office, when 80 creative thinkers, digital enthusiasts and innovators with a passion for London’s future will compete in a series of tasks and aim to develop new apps.
Teams will compete to develop apps and platforms that will help to solve challenges provided by some of London’s biggest city organisations. The winning team will receive £7,500 and there may be industry opportunities to develop some ideas further.
Holly Atkinson, senior marketing manager at Aecom said: “Over three days, you and your team will have the opportunity to bring your idea to life with the help of some of the most passionate and accomplished city-shaping minds.
“Facilitated by Alejandro Saucedo of Exponential Technologies and co-founder of HackTrain, the Hackathon is sure to be an exciting, intense weekend full of fun, collaborating and connecting with like-minded developers, industry experts and CityHack partners.”
Other mentors from Microsoft, Virgin Start Up and Future Cities Catapult and client challenge partners will be on hand to help shape ideas, as well as access to skills workshops to improve and develop ideas and craft winning pitches.
Registration for CityHack18 is £15 per person. Participants will receive a CityHack18 t-shirt, and all food, soft drinks and beer will be provided.
